WAEV TANZANIA PROJECT
This project is done in conjunction with Cal Poly’s Appropriate Technology Class, Fall 2020.

OUR JOURNEY
This project has taught us a lot about the difficulties with development across the globe. It has taught us how much we do not know about communities that experience life differently than us. Our group has gained new friends and connections too!

WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED
Through this process we learned so much about the culture in Tanzania. We learned about the culture through our own research and through talking with WAEV's founder Saing'orie. Saing'orie explained to us what is needed in his community and how we could help. Through calls and texts, we were eventually able to give Saing'orie three completed projects. The erosion project taught us of the difficulties with community spaces and closing off land for protection. The tree guide project taught us how different planting trees in Tanzania is compared to the United States. And the Etsy project showed us how much potential there is for economic sustainability in the jewelry made by Tanzanian women.
